The Tocá Rufar Social Project in São Tomé and Príncipe and the creation of the 1st Tocá Rufar STP Social Orchestra represents a unique opportunity to preserve and enrich local culture, promote social inclusion and strengthen ties between São Tomé and Portugal

The project aims to guarantee the sustainability of practices by adapting them to the São Tomé reality, promoting appreciation and pride in shared cultural heritage.

From the age of 9, you can register your son or daughter for free in the Tocá Rufar São Tomé and Príncipe Social Orchestra (OTR-STP). The age limit is 16 years old. Rehearsals will take place from October onwards, every Saturday, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, at Lar Dona Simoa Godinho, in Água Grande.

The Tocá Rufar project, an association founded by Rui Júnior in 1996, is a national initiative in Portugal that aims to promote musical education, particularly percussion, in schools and communities. This project, of recognized cultural merit in Portugal, has as main objective to encourage the learning of music through percussion, providing opportunities for training and participation in musical activities for children, young people and adults.

Tocá Rufar is widely recognized for its innovative and inclusive approach that values expression

musical, a criatividade e o trabalho em equipe. With dynamic and motivating teaching methods, the project

stands out for encouraging the active participation of students, developing musical skills and promoting values such as respect, discipline and cooperation.

Tocá Rufar has a significant impact on promoting musical culture, social integration and personal development of participants. Through classes, rehearsals, presentations and community projects, the project contributes

for the formation of more conscious, creative and engaged citizens, who find in music a form of expression and fulfillment.

By expanding its activities to São Tomé and Príncipe, Tocá Rufar will bring the benefits of percussion-based musical education to children, young people and local communities, strengthening cultural, social and educational ties and promoting a positive and enriching learning environment.
